Repair A Moen T4572 Faucet

The Moen T4572 bathroom sink faucet (also called the Monticello) is a two-handle design. It contains one handle for the hot water and one for the cold water on either side of the arched spout. Repairing this model of Moen faucet is similar to fixing other two-handled bathroom faucets with a few exceptions. Set aside about an hour to make this repair if you have never fixed a faucet before. The repair stops leaks and water temperature control issues. Does this Spark an idea?

1. Shut the water valves under the bathroom sink to stop incoming water supply.

2. Loosen the bottom, bulb-shaped base of the handle by turning it to the left, and remove the handle and stem adapter (which is located inside the base of the handle) by pulling the entire part off the faucet.

3. Slide the escutcheon (flat washer molding) off. With a pair of pliers, grasp the cartridge located in the base of the handle, and turn it counter-clockwise loosen it. Remove it by pulling the part up and out of the faucet.

4. Insert a new cartridge into the faucet base and turn it clockwise to secure it in place. Replace the escutcheon washer and then replace the handle base. While holding the handle in place, turn the base clockwise to tighten and secure it.
